Draft text for your local MPDear I am writing to you, as my local Member of Parliament, to express my concern over the illegal siege on Cuba that is being conducted by the United States. I ask that you join Hon Gerry Brownlee and others (see https://newsroom.co.nz/2026/06/02/mps-urge-trump-to-follow-international-law-over-cuba-blockade/) and affirm this nation's proud history of defending international law. Cuba is a country comparable in size and, like our own people, peaceful and cooperative in nature. I ask that you make known your agreement with the Speaker's letter to the U.S. embassy, calling on its Government to comply with international law and respect the right of the Cuban people to determine their own political system. I also ask that you support tabling a resolution in the House, in which the House expresses: * Its opposition to any threat or use of military force against Cuba by the U.S. * Its opposition to the economic embargo and oil blockade against Cuba, recognising the humanitarian harm caused by such measures * Its support for diplomacy, dialogue, and the resolution of conflict in accordance with international law.
